What if I do not want to receive direct marketing calls?
If you do not wish to receive direct marketing calls to your landline number advise your service provider at point of sale, your service provider is required by law to put your number on the do not call register – National Directory Database (NDD). If you do not object to receiving calls from companies wanting to sell you goods or services you do not need to do anything.
This facility is open to both residential and business phone subscribers.
It is a free service.
It applies to voice calls and, for business subscribers, to faxes.
Its aim is to stop unsolicited marketing messages.
Phone companies will pass on their customers’ preference to the NDD in accordance with regulatory obligations.
Within 28 days of opting out, no cold calling should occur.
Marketing companies who break the rules face prosecution by the DPC.
Ex-directory numbers are automatically entered onto the register

If you wish to update your directory entry please advise your new service provider.There is a regulatory requirement on all operators who assign telephone numbers to subscribers to record in the National Directory Database (NDD), the details of subscribers who have not refused to be to be included in the NDD, this may include a listing in the directory and/or with directory enquiries.
Options for listings in the NDD
Listed Details (name, address, telephone number) is listed in the telephone directory and with Directory Enquiries
Unlisted Details listed with Directory Enquiries only
Ex-Directory Details not listed in NDD
