What are CallSave 1850 and LoCall 1890 numbers?

The correct term for these numbers are “Shared Cost Numbers”. This means that the cost of the call is shared between the calling party and the called party.

1850 - Shared Cost - Fixed
The cost to the calling party is fixed regardless of the duration of the call. These numbers are often advertised as CallSave numbers.

1890 - Shared Cost - Timed
The cost to the calling party is dependant on the duration of the call. These numbers are often advertised as LoCall numbers.

Calls from your home phone or fixed line to 1850/1890 numbers are charged to you at the rate of a local call with your service provider.


Before calling an 1850/1890 number you should check specific details with your home phone provider. Call rates to 1850/1890 numbers from mobile phones may cost more and ComReg discourages the use of the terms CallSave and LoCall for this reason.
