How do operators provide services?
Operators can provide services to you using three methods, these are listed below. Please note that regardless of how your service is provided, the quality should be the same. Where you opt to have separate providers for line rental and calls, your line rental provider maintains responsibility for repairing your line should a fault occur.
Single Billing
Single Billing means receiving just one bill from the service provider of your choice for every aspect of your telephone service requirements including all calls and line rental.
It's easy, first of all contact your new Single Billing service provider. You will need to enter into a new agreement for the service which involves either signing a consent form, or confirming your consent over the telephone.
Regarding ancillary services, such as call waiting or call answering etc., you will need to contact your new operator to ask if these are available. Your internet settings and broadband services should not be affected if you select a new service provider for line rental and calls. Your new service provider will provide you with further details.
Carrier Pre-Selection
Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS) allows you to opt in advance for certain types of calls to be carried by a particular operator. There is no need to dial a prefix or follow any different procedure prior to connecting the call.
You can opt for CPS on three different types of call:
- International Calls - an alternative service provider is chosen to carry your calls to an international location
- National Calls - an alternative service provider is chosen to carry your calls to a location within Ireland
- All Calls - an alternative service provider is chosen to carry all your calls, whether they be to a destination within Ireland, or overseas.
Carrier Selection
Your service provider has a 5 digit over-ride code which you enter before dialling the number you wish to call, then dial the number you are calling as normal. You will then be billed on a call by call basis. This 5 digit code bypasses your normal telephone service provider for that call only and you will be billed by the phone company whose over-ride code you used.
