What is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that allows you to make telephone calls using an internet connection instead of your regular phone line. The internet connection is normally broadband to make sure the phone calls are reasonably clear and to keep time delays to a minimum during the call.
