PABX hacking and telephony fraud

ComReg has recently been made aware of issues where businesses have had their PBX system hacked into resulting in financial loss to the business.
ComReg has written to the Garda Fraud Squad and made contact with the relevant phone providers about the issue. We understand that fraudster is generally based outside of this country and that the calls are often “bounced” several times resulting in the trail being almost impossible to trace.
